I’ve completed the Seattle To Portland ride in two days. Our group left at 7:20 on Saturday and arrived in Centrailia around 16:00 with moderate breaks for food and rest. The next day we kept to a tighter schedule but had a few mechanical issues, leaving Centrailia at 7:40 and arriving at the finish line around 17:20. Brad and Chris finished before me, not wanting to ride slowly through the searing heat of Portland so close to the finish line. Justin and Kat arrived soon after I did, having kept a more moderate pace. I averaged 18km/h over this 328km course
Next year I should be able to finish in one day, so long as I remember to drink lots of water and wear sunscreen

Anton Kiran Colleton was born into the world at 8:36 on Thursday morning the 24th of April, 2008. Darcy and I are recovering at the University of Washington Medical Center, following a Cesarean section delivery. At 3.5kg and 49cm, young Anton had filled out Darcy’s womb in the left footling breech position and would not be moved for vaginal delivery despite our best efforts. The delivery was otherwise uncomplicated and we’re all resting well in the newborn wing of the hospital.
Thank you all for your well wishes and support.
Love,
Lee & Darcy

I like the look of this ride, though I don’t think I’d have the sand to take it for a spin. I found the pic tacked to the wall in Auburn, California’s Edelweiss omelette shop.
More pictures including family and friends.

Darcy and I were married on September 1st at the Knapp’s farm on Orcas island. We then had a honeymoon on Sinclair island. It was a wonderful weekend filled with family, friends and food. Issara did an excellent job of photographing the wedding and we’ve included some photos from Andy and Luke also. Here are some photos which have been uploaded to flickr. More to follow; I’ll post an update when the full rez archive is online.

The Dark Side How Evangelical Teachings Corrupt Love and Truth by Valerie Tarico
I’ve never been a believer, but this book provides an interesting look at how someone can recover from a lifetime of religious fervor. I’ll write more in review once I’ve finished it.

Dominant Culture is having the same effect on the planet as an ELE.
I just realized that one of my childhood fears was actually a secret hope; An asteroid striking the earth is generally regarded as a bad thing, but it would give us the wonderful opportunity to cooperate as a species for the common good.
Nemesis is the Greek god of divine retribution. Considering what we´ve done to the other lifeforms on this planet, I´d say we´ve got it coming. Let´s roll them bones. Come on Nemesis, give us your best shot!
